TRAINING OBJECTIVES
Participants will
5. Understand how to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for golf participation by individuals with disabilities (e.g. attitudes, barriers, terminology, marketing techniques, etc.
6. Gain exposure with people with disabilities through inclusion of individuals with disabilities in training instruction.
7. Gain a working understanding of tips and techniques for adapting and modifying skills as relates to the person’s unique needs and challenges, including the availability and use of adaptive golf equipment, as well as simple, free and low-cost alternatives.
8. Practice golf instruction through structured training modules while working with individuals with disabilities.
9. Understand professional training resources that can be utilized post-training and when the professional is met with a customer with a disability who needs assistance.
- Understand “person-first” terminology and how to approach and talk to people with disabilities.
- Learn about the incentives and legal mandates for providing programmatically inclusive and accessible golf.
- Understand various war-related injuries/illnesses, (e.g. traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, amputation, spinal cord injury, visual and hearing loss).
- Learn about the contraindications of various injuries/illnesses and medications in effort to offer safe golf instruction and participation.
